Australian born BARRY TUCKWELL's career spans more than sixty years.  He has made over 50 recordings as a horn soloist and conductor and received three Grammy Nominations.  Currently he is a Professorial Fellow at the University of Melbourne.

MARY BISSON has played Third Horn with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for more than twenty years.  She has performed with numerous orchestras and has been a featured performer at the International Horn Society, Sarasota Music Festival and the International Women's Brass Conference.  She studied horn with Philip Farkas at Indiana University, was on the faculty of the Peabody Institute of Music in Baltimore for fourteen years and is now on faculty at the Sunderman Music Conservatory at Gettysburg College, where she teaches and plays with the faculty Woodwind Quintet.  Mary is a founding member of the Barry Tuckwell Institute and serves as its Director.

A graduate of The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore and Northwestern University, BOB LAUVER was hired by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in 1992, where he spent 8 years before being hired by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 2000.  Bob teaches horn at Carnegie Mellon University where he is artist/lecturer in horn and the director of the Carnegie Mellon Horn Choir. 

JEAN RIFE was for twenty-five years principal horn with Boston Baroque, and served for several years as principal of the Rhode Island Philharmonic.  Her special interest in contemporary works has led to her premiering several works written for her.  She is currently commissioning works by John Harbison, Brian Robison, and Peter Child.  She is a prize-winning soloist and chamber musician, lecturer in Music at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and on the teaching faculties of New England Conservatory and the Longy School of Music.  Jean is a founding member of the Barry Tuckwell Institute.

KAREN SCHNEIDER has been widely recognized as an excellent teacher and embouchure problem solver.  She has given master classes and conducted horn ensembles at numerous venues throughout the US, including the Southeastern Horn Workshop in Tallahassee, the International Women’s Brass Conference, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the University of Cincinnati College/Conservatory of Music, The Eastman School of Music and the University of South Florida, where she hosted a horn workshop with Philip Farkas.  Ms. Schneider is also an active performer, playing principal horn in the Middletown Symphony, the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra and for local Broadway shows and commercial recordings.  Ms. Schneider has performed and recorded with the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestras.  In 2000 she formed and is director of the Cincinnati Horn Connection, an ensemble for professionals, amateurs and advanced students, which has just recorded a CD. 

Pianist TOMOKO KANAMARU is c
urrently Assistant Professor and Keyboard Area Coordinator at The Colege of New Jersey and a member of the International Horn Society; earlier, she served as a faculty member of the University of Cinncinnati College Conservatory.  As a "horn collaborator", she has served as the official pianist at previous IHS conferences, has twice participated in the International Horn Competition of America, in addition to numerous projects for the Japan Horn Society.  Tomoko is a founding member of the Barry Tuckwell Institute.
